HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!

Well Well Well… TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! And also… STYLE R’ US ‘S BIRTHDAY! I’m now 22 and this baby blog is one year old already! Time really flies but I feel extremenly fortunate. This is my little piece of heaven, my own unique world where I share with all of you some of the things that give color to my life. Thank you so much to every single one of you for your incredible support, you are the best and I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole wide world!

Bueno Bueno Bueno… HOY ES MI CUMPLEAÑOS! Y también… EL CUMPLEAÑOS DE STYLE R US! Hoy llego a los 22 años, y este blog bebé ya cumple un año de existencia! El tiempo realmente vuela pero me siento extremadamente afortunada. Este es mi pequeño pedazo de cielo, mi propio mundo único en el cual comparto con ustedes algunas de las cosas que llenan de color mi vida. Gracias, infinitas gracias a cada uno/a de ustedes, por su apoyo incondicional, SON LOS/AS MEJORES y me siento como la chica más afortunada del mundo entero!

I’m sorry I’ve been away for almost a week, my life has been crazy busy but I’ll have beautiful pictures to share with you the ups and downs of this past week. / Estoy muy apenada por haber desaparecido del blog por casi una semana, mi vida ha sido una locura y he estado súper ocupada pero pronto tendré hermosas fotos para compartir con ustedes los alti-bajos de esta semana.  

Tonight I was trying to relax and decided to select some of my favorite pictures from Octopustudio to share them with you and tell you a bit about this amazing group of people and why I am so in love with their work. / Hoy estaba intentando relajarme un poco y decidí seleccionar algunas de mis fotografías preferidas de Octopustudio para compartirlas con ustedes y contarles un poco acerca de este maravilloso grupo de personas y el por qué estoy tan enamorada de su trabajo.

Octopustudio is simply a group of talented artists that have a unique feel to their work, they take pictures, yeah, but not just pictures! They know exactly how to find  EXTRAORDINARY things, images, people and ideas everywhere and every time. I have a couple of friends who have worked, and currently still work, with Octopustudio and I seriously get a heart attack every single time I get to see something new from them… it’s so different, so fun and so beautiful. I don’t think I need to tell you much about them, I’ll stop now and let you enjoy some incredible pictures by Octopustudio.. and after that, I’ll tell you just a little bit about something I want to recommend to you all!. / Octopustudio es simplemente un grupo de artistas súper talentosos con una esencia extremadamente único alrededor de su trabajo, ellos toman fotos, si, pero no son solo fotos! Ellos saben exactamente cómo conseguir  EXTRAORDINARIAS cosas, imágenes, personas e ideas en todos lados, todo el tiempo. Tengo un par de amigos que han trabajo, y aún trabajan actualmente, con Octopustudio y honestamente me da un ataque al corazón cada vez que veo algo nuevo de ellos… su trabajo es tan diferente, divertido y hermoso. No creo que sea necesario decirles mucho más acerca de ellos, pararé ahora y lo dejaré disfrutar de algunas increíbles fotos de Octopustudio… y luego de eso, les diré sólo un poquito sobre algo que quiero recomendarles a todos!.

CANDY&ROLL HAS DONE IT AGAIN!

Yesterday I went to support my fabulous friends Jesús and Orlando from Candy&Roll at ¨De trapos y tragos¨ an event that takes place every other week  in Caracas. It was full of wonderful music, drinks, food, and of course a great selection of clothes from brands like H&M, Topshop, Primark, Blanco, etc that PopLab brings to Venezuela.

Ayer fuí a apoyar a mis fabulosos amigos Jesús y Orlando de Candy&Roll en “De trapos y tragos”, un evento que se lleva a cabo cada par de semanas en Caracas. Estuvo llena de excelente música, bebidas, comida y por supuesto una muy buena selección de ropa de marcas como H&M, TopShop, Primark, Blanco, etc que PopLab trae a Venezuela.

This time they invited Candy&Roll to be special guests with their modern and unique designs so they did attend with a whole new pret-a-porter collection!! Full of geometric shapes and cuts, amazing textures, a mix of fabrics and colors like grey, black, white, navy, burgundy, red, fuchsia, turquoise and purple the collection represents the perfect Candy&Roll type of girl: a fun, daring, sexy and sophisticated woman who stands out.

Esta vez la gente de “De trapos y Tragos” invitó a Candy&Roll a participar como invitados especiales con sus modernos y únicos diseños así que asistieron con una nueva colección Pret-a-porter!! Llena de figuras y cortes geométricos, increíbles texturas, una mezcla de telas y colores como gris, negro, blanco, azul marino, vinotinto, rojo, fucsia, turquesa y morado la colección representa a la perfecta chica Candy&Roll: una mujer divertida, atrevida, sexy y sofisticada que siempre resalta entre la multitud. 

The guys from PopLab did a nice job and the event had some incredible guests!! I had the chance to meet some amazing Venezuelan bloggers and I had a lot of fun talking to them about future projects to work on together!! The stunning Anabel from AnaboCafé and the fun and beautiful Graciela from Descosido (and her also nice and beautiful cousin) were there and of course the one and only José Roberto Coppola from MisterCoppola was also there to have a great time among fashion, music, and tons of drinks!. I highly recommend you go NOW to all of their blogs, they are seriously fantastic people.

Los chicos de PopLab hicieron un buen trabajo y el evento contó con algunos increíbles invitados!! Tuve la oportunidad de conocer a algunos maravillosos bloggers Venezolanos y disfruté un montón conversando sobre futuros proyectos para llevar a cabo en conjunto!! La BELLÍSIMA Anabel de AnaboCafé y la divertida y bella Graciela de Descosido (Y su también simpática y bella prima) asistieron al evento y por supuesto el magnífico José Roberto Coppola de MisterCoppola también estuvo ahí para pasarla bien entre montones de moda, música y bebidas!. Les recomiendo altamente que vayan YA a visitar todos sus blogs pues son realmente gente FANTÁSTICA. 

I don’t have that many pictures of the Pret-a-porter collection of Candy&Roll because the light was not the best at the event, but I’ll ask them to send me some! For now, you can see a couple of details of the pieces I got =) I’m planning to wear them soon since they are great summer night stuff so you’ll get to see the whole thing in a future post.

No tengo muchas fotos de la colección Pret-a-porter de Candy&Roll porque la luz realmente no era la mejor en el evento, pero les pediré que me envíen algunas! Por ahora pueden ver algunos detalles de las piezas que compré =) planeo usarlas muy pronto pues son perfectas piezas para usar en las noches de Verano así que en un futuro post verán el 100%! 

As for my outfit, I went for easy breeze haha so I wore some khaki shorts, animal print belt, neon yellow/green Zara shirt, brown high-heeled sandals and Vintage clutch. Silver and turquoise necklaces and chains,  some silver vintage bracelets, simple silver and white stone earrings and that’s it =).

En cuanto a mi outfit, me decidí por un look muy relajado y sencillo así que usé shorts color khaki, un cinturón delgado de estampado animal, una camisa en amarillo/verde neón de Zara, sandalias altas marrones y un bolso tipo sobre Vintage. Collares y cadenas en plata y turquesa, algunas pulseras y brazaletes Vintage en plata, y zarcillos de plata y piedras blancas fueron los accesorios =).

También fuí invitada a asistir a la fiesta “On the list” de Le Club pero tenía un montón de cosas (relacionadas con trabajo) que hacer anoche así que no me fue posible ir… Espero que todos hayan disfrutado de una genial noche de Sábado! Que la fiesta continúe!.

LOVE FOR THE ARTS: COMO VAYA VINIENDO…

“Como vaya viniendo… vamos viendo” (we will see as it comes…) is the name of the latest play produced by Marcos Purroy and directed by Daniel Uribe. The leading actor is a really famous Sr. called Franklin Virguez who played a major role in a soap opera from the 80’s in Venezuela, he was, and still is, a huge character that everyone, everywhere recognizes. Ibsen Martinez, the playwright, was the original writer of the soap opera called “Por estas calles”, number 8 in the list of the best 100 tv shows in Latin America according to Rolling Stones in spanish magazine in 2005, and he also takes part in the play as an actor which is amazing. They both do a fantastic job in “Como vaya viniendo” and I’m really proud to be able to work with such talented people.

“Como vaya viniendo… vamos viendo”es la más reciente obra teatral producida por Marcos Purroy y dirigida por Daniel Uribe. El actor principal es un caballero muy famoso llamado Franklin Virguez quien tuvo un inmenso rol en una telenovela Venezolana en los años 80, él fue, y aún es, un personaje increíble que todos, en donde sea, reconocen inmediatamente. Ibsen Martinez, el escrito, es el autor original de la telenovela llamada “Por Estas Calles”, numero 8 en la lista de los 100 mejores programas de TV en LatinoAmérica según la revista Rolling Stones en español en el 2005, y también participa como actor en la obra, lo que me parece maravilloso. Ambos llevan a cabo un trabajo sorprendente en “Como vaya viniendo” y estoy muy orgullosa de trabajar con gente tan talentosa. 

The play basically tells the story of Eudomar Santos (Franklin Virguez’s character in Por Estas Calles) and what his life’s been like for the last 20 yearssince the soap opera went out of air. It’s a play about Venezuelan’s social and political reality in the 80’s, 90’s and recently so of course it is not full of flowers and candies BUT it is not only a political and social critic, it is so much more than that. Franklin’s character is full of comedy and charm and everyone in the audience really connect to him and his story. The presence of Ibsen Martinez in the play is much more valuable than people tend to think, he is there, for the first time as an actor EVER, to tell the truth about some mith and rumors that went around about Por Estas Calles and its impact on Venezuela’s political reality back then. Básicamente la obra cuenta la historia de Eudomar Santos (el personaje de Franklin Virguez en “Por estas calles”) y el cómo ha sido su vida en los últimos 20 años desde que la telenovela salió del aire. Es una obra sobre la realidad social y política de Venezuela en los 80, los 90 y la actualidad así que por supuesto no está llena de flores y caramelos PERO no es únicamente una crítica social y política, es mucho más que eso. El personaje de Franklin está lleno de comedia y encanto y la audiencia se siente muy conectada a él y a su historia. La presencia de Ibsen Martinez en la obra es muchísimo más valiosa de lo que la gente puede llegar a pensar, él está ahí, por primera vez EN LA HISTORIA como actor, para aclarar hechos y revelar la verdad en relación a mitos y rumores que se dieron alrededor de Por Estas Calles y su impacto en la realidad política de Venezuela en aquella época. Well, focusing on the outfits, since this IS a fashion blog after all.., I have some pictures from the press conference and from the premiere of the play. This all happened last week so I know I’m a bit late but hope you still enjoy it!!

Bueno, enfocándonos ahora en los conjuntos, ya que este ES un blog de estilo a fin de  cuentas…, tengo algunas fotos de la Rueda de Prensa y de la premiere de la obra. Todo esto sucedió la semana pasada así que ya se que estoy un poco atrasada, pero aún así espero que las disfruten!

The day of the press release we were running around so I wanted to wear acomfy outfit… so light camel pants, a simple white tank and a black boyfriend blazer did the job just right!! With some nude pumps and my beloved camel bag I was ready!

En la rueda de prensa todos  estábamos corriendo solucionando cosas así quequería usar algo realmente cómodo… unos pantalones color camel claro, una simple camiseta blanca y un blazer estilo “boyfriend” negro fueron las perfectas piezas!! Con tacones nude y mi amado bolso en color camel el conjunto estuvo listo!

The premiere was full of special guests, press, and of course the general audience, and I had to receive the special guests so I wanted to wear a classic black dress, with a beautiful statement necklace and some killer heels…so that’s what I did!!

La premiere estuvo llena de invitados especiales, prensa y por supuesto el público general, y fue mi tarea recibir a los invitados especiales así que quería usar un clásico vestido negro, con un hermoso collar y unos tacones de impacto… así que eso fue lo que hice!

NEW LOVE: QUINCALLA ZOCO

Yesterday I went to a beautiful store called “Zoco” searching for an original father’s day gift for my future father in law. I need to stress how much I LOVE this place! It is small but it has the most creative and perfect little things you could ever want, as a gift for someone else or for yourself!. I spent about 30-45 minutes just looking at the great things they have, and I discovered that the girl who works in the store is an old friend from school, so we got to talk a little bit with her and the owner of the store (A gorgeous lady with impeccable and modern taste!) about random design things!! I am really excited about going back there and check their new stuff every once in a while.

Ayer fuí a una tienda bellísima llamada “Zoco” buscando por un regalo original del día del padre para mi futuro suegro.    De verdad necesito resaltar cuanto AMO ese lugar! Es una tienda pequeña pero tiene los detalles más creativos y perfectos que alguien pueda desear, para un regalo o para sí mismo!. Pasé unos 30-45 minutos simplemente viendo todas las cosas geniales que tienen, y descubrí que la chica que atiende ahí es una vieja amiga del colegio, así que disfruté también de un tiempo conversando con ella y con la dueña de la tienda (Una señora espectacular con un gusto súper moderno e impecable!) sobre asuntos varios relacionados con el diseño!!. Estoy muy emocionada por volver a Zoco cada cierto tiempo y chequear todas las cosas nuevas que tengan.

     

Next time I promise I’ll take some pictures, but I was seriously busy falling in love with every single thing in the store! / La próxima vez prometo que tomaré algunas fotos, pero estaba seriamente ocupada enamorándome de cada una de las cosas en la tienda!!

In case you are wondering… YES I found some really nice little gifts =) One of them being this cool fan! He loves original stuff like this and the weather in Caracas is CRAZY HOT right now so I knew he’d love having this! (and yes, it actually works REALLY well) / En caso de que se lo estén preguntando… SI Encontré varios regalitos increíbles =) Uno de ellos es este ventilador super cool! A él le encantan las cosas originales como esta y el clima en Caracas está SÚPER CALIENTE ahorita así que supe que le encantaría tener algo así! (Y sí, sí funciona bastante bien)

Unexpected friendships last forever!

About a year ago I attended a pretty recognized media/advertisement event in Caracas (Venezuela) called “Explosión Creativa” (Creative explosion) and I had a blast! My good friend-now business partner Keny León won an award for the best production and we spent the 3 days of the event just having fun and talking to people. I found these pictures yesterday and I decided I’d share them with you =) As you can see I was quite excited about being a Jedi! haha

Hace un año asistí a un evento bastante reconocido de medios y publicidad en Caracas (Venezuela) llamado “Explosión Creativa” y me divertí EN EXTREMO! Mi buen amigo-y ahora socio Keny León ganó un premio por la mejor producción y pasamos los 3 días del evento disfrutando y hablando con un montón de personas. Encontré estas fotos ayer y decidí compartirlas con ustedes =) Como pueden ver me sentía SÚPER emocionada de poder ser Jedi por un día! jaja

And, of course, I couldn’t stop taking pictures with every single character there was! haha (Those costumes are made by our lovely company! nice ha?)

Y, por supuesto, no pude evitar el tomarme fotos con cada uno de los personajes que habían en el evento! jaja (Esos habitables-disfraces son hechos por nuestra empresa!! geniales verdad?)
